Kobong was rescued in 2022 after suffering a nasty electrocution. He was found in some bushes, and needed urgent medical attention.
Once at the centre, Kobong’s injuries were thoroughly assessed, revealing third-degree burns on his right arm, leg, face, and eye. To give him the best chance at recovery the veterinary team made the difficult decision to amputate his right arm and leg and remove his left eye. Following surgery, Kobong received intensive post-operative care in a specialised enclosure.
Despite these challenges, Kobong has displayed extraordinary resilience and amazed us all. Today, Kobong is fully recovered and has even embraced climbing again, adapting skillfully to his new reality. Kobong’s story shows the strength and spirit of these remarkable animals, and he’s a reminder of why rescue work is so important.
