Many of our most ambitious projects would not be possible without the long-term commitment of our trust and foundation partners. Their funding gives us the stability to plan ahead, respond quickly when animals are in danger and stay for as long as it takes.
We are deeply grateful to every trust and foundation that stands with us.

Sir Michael Uren OBE and The Michael Uren Foundation
Our relationship with Sir Michael Uren began in 2005, when he read about our Indian dancing bear rescue project in the Daily Telegraph and made a donation to help. That first connection grew into an extraordinary partnership. Over the years, The Michael Uren Foundation has given more than £7 million to our work, funding bear sanctuaries in India, wildlife protection in Costa Rica and the land, buildings and equipment for our Orangutan Conservation Centre in Ketapang, West Kalimantan, including the Sir Michael Uren Learning Centre, named in his honour. In 2019, a grant of over £3 million secured the future of around 95,000 acres of deep peat forest, home to an estimated 1,000 critically endangered orangutans. Sir Michael passed away on 9 August 2019, and we lost a true friend and generous benefactor. It’s fair to say International Animal Rescue would not be the charity it is today without him. We are deeply grateful to Sir Michael and the Foundation, whose support continues to protect endangered animals and their habitats, and whose legacy lives on through our work.
