Partners

International Animal Rescue has built close long-standing collaborative relationships with strategic partners, who operate in-country and run the projects. IAR provides funding, collaborative support and technical advice to facilitate the smooth operation of the projects.

IAR Costa Rica (IAR CR)

IAR CR (previously known as Refuge for Wildlife) has been a strategic partner since 2016. It runs the Sir Michael Uren Wildlife Rescue and Education Centre located in Nosara, on the Pacific West Coast of Costa Rica. The rescue centre responds to hundreds of wildlife incidents every year and deals with a wide variety of species.

Yayasan Inisiasi Alam Rehabilitasi Indonesia (YIARI)

For more than 20 years, International Animal Rescue (IAR) has worked hand in hand with Yayasan Inisiasi Alam Rehabilitasi Indonesia (YIARI). IAR helped found YIARI and is its largest funder, providing more than $2 million USD every year. Together, we protect Indonesia's orangutans, slow lorises and macaques by rescuing and rehabilitating animals, restoring forests, supporting lcoal communities and tackling threats like wildfires and the illegal pet trade.

Wildlife SOS

Wildlife SOS has been a strategic partner since 2000. Together, Wildlife SOS and IAR created the Dancing Bear Project in India. Over 600 bears were saved and the last dancing bear in India was rescued in December 2009. Wildlife SOS runs the bear sanctuaries in Agra, Bangalore and Bhopal where the rescued bears live out their days peacefully and safely.

Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC)

FPWC has been a partner of International Animal Rescue since 2017 when the two organisations collaborated to launch The Great Bear Rescue. The Great Bear Rescue is a project designed to liberate captive bears from tiny, cramped cages where they are kept in private collections and, where possible, release them into the wild or, otherwise, provide them with safe sanctuary.

Other Charity Partners

We are delighted to work with and/or support a number of other like-minded organisations.

Animal Protection Agency

The Animal Protection Agency Foundation was set up to carry out, or commission, research into the impacts of the wildlife trade on individual animals, biodiversity and the natural environment, as well as the risks of infectious disease transmission between wildlife and people. The Foundation conducts awareness raising programmes on all issues concerning the trade in wild animals as pets.

British Divers Marine Life Rescue

BDMLR is an organisation dedicated to the rescue and well-being of all marine animals in distress around the UK. Our chief executive Alan Knight is Chairman of BDMLR.

Orangutan Outreach

Orangutan Outreach has been of invaluable support to our work in Indonesia, raising funds and awareness for us through an extensive adoption programme.

Wildlife Rescue Ambulance Service

WRAS offers a front line rescue service for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife across East Sussex, UK. International Animal Rescue are very proud to be associated with these hardworking people and due to the proximity of our headquarters, we will often call upon WRAS to rescue an injured animal.

Oviad

We are supported by Orangutan Veterinary Aid (OVAID), a UK charity dedicated to improving the welfare of orangutans. OVAID provides us with the medicines and equipment we need, whatever the project. Their support means our vets can give every orangutan in our care the best possible treatment, from the moment they’re rescued to the day they return to the forest.
