This Ape-ril, we’re inviting you to take part in Cakes for Apes, a global baking fundraiser supporting critically endangered orangutans and their forest homes.
Working with our partners, YIARI, we rescue, rehabilitate, and protect orangutans in Indonesia. So far, we’ve rescued over 260 orangutans, released around 80 back into the wild, and celebrated 10 wild births, a powerful sign of hope for a species under threat.
This year, we’re aiming to raise £25,000 / $33,000, enough to feed and provide essential medical care for every orangutan in our care for a full year.
Orangutans share around 97% of our DNA, reflected in the way we see ourselves reflected back at us when we look at how they move and care for their young. They are intelligent, emotional, and deeply social beings whose survival is closely tied to the forests they depend on.
Alongside rehabilitation and habitat protection, our work supports local communities to build a future where people and wildlife can thrive together.
Getting involved in Cakes4Apes is simple. Host a cake sale, organise a bake-off, or gather friends for coffee and cake. However you take part, every penny helps fund rescues, expert care, forest protection, and helps return orangutans to the forest where they belong.
So, do something simple (and delicious) and help save a species under threat.
