One of my proudest moments was opening the first phase of our new sanctuary at Ushi in Armenia, giving many more rescued bears the chance to live as naturally as possible. The sanctuary was officially opened by our patron, actor Steven Cree, whose visit featured on the BBC, helping shine a spotlight on the project and raise awareness of the plight of captive bears. My heartfelt thanks for all your support this year – together, we’re giving more animals a second chance and helping to protect their habitats too.Alan Knight, IAR President – 2026
This year marks a significant milestone: 20 years of our work in Indonesia. Looking back, it's astonishing to reflect on everything we've achieved together in that time: protecting vital forests, building lasting partnerships with local communities, and improving the lives of orangutans, slow lorises, macaques, and countless other species. It's a milestone worth celebrating, and one that reminds us how much can be achieved through long-term commitment and collaboration.Gavin Bruce, CEO – 2026
