Rescued from forest fires alongside her mother, infant orangutan Irene finds comfort in the arms of YIARI CEO and wildlife veterinarian, Dr Karmele Llano Sanchez.
The pair were believed to have gone days without food before they were rescued from an oil palm plantation within a high conservation value (HCV) forest area in West Kalimantan. Both were taken to YIARI’s rehabilitation centre for urgent medical care.
