With the world in turmoil this was one of the toughest years we have ever experienced. This is not just the case for us as a charity, but also for you – our incredible supporters. Sadly, it has taken its toll on our fundraising, meaning we are at serious risk of being under target. We are in desperate need of your help as we need to raise £50,000 before the end of the year.

The effects of COVID have been SEVERE and in some instances CRIPPLING for our projects. We’ve had to reduce staff and volunteer numbers - who play virtual roles in caring for the animals - meaning our remaining staff have been stretched without the additional support. This was particularly the case with our project in Armenia, as several foreign volunteers were unable to stay due to COVID restrictions and had to return home.

Our rescue project in India in particular had to deal with a COVID crisis earlier this year, where several members of staff tested positive and needed to self-isolate. The team also had a shortage of oxygen concentrators and cylinders for their staff to aid their recovery, and as India went into lockdown, supplies were difficult to come by.

But in particular over the last few years, we have seen a huge increase in demand – we’ve needed to start new projects, expand rescue centres and take in more and more animals. This expansion means we need more money to cover the costs, but this year in particular we are only scraping by.

The other side of the coin is that our fundraising has also taken a big hit. In particular community fundraising for the last couple of years has been severely impacted, with the postponements and cancellations of many events due to the risk of COVID.

We desperately need your help, so please donate today to help us get through this incredibly difficult time, not simply for us – but for the animals!
