Budi and Jemmi enjoying fruit in their hammock

1st April 2015

Budi continues to go from strength to strength. His muscles are even stronger and he is incredibly confident at climbing. His leg muscles still have a way to go so he is encouraged to use them as much as possible. He sometimes loses his balance when he tries to walk and when he falls over he really loves the feeling of playing in the dirt and sand and he will roll around and push his face in it, before pulling himself up. When he’s on the tiled floor of his night area he loves to slide about on the floor pulling himself around with his arms.

Budi has grown a lot of body hair, due to the very nutritious diet his carers are feeding him. He much prefers to eat solid food instead of the blended fruit and vegetables the medical team started him on when he first arrived.

He spends his day with Jemmi in their enclosure, and they spend their time playing together, climbing around on the ropes and branches. When Budi is taken into the day enclosure first he will keep looking back for Jemmi and if left on his own, he will cry until his new friend joins him. At the end of the day they both make their way back to their shared hammock in the clinic where they spend the night together.

Jemmi is also now moving onto more solid foods. Fruit and vegetables are hung in the enclosure and on their hammock to encourage their natural foraging skills.

Here they are enjoying a fruit snack of peeled rambatan and guavas in their hammock.
