COVID-19 Statement

Body

During these uncertain and challenging times, we are all naturally deeply concerned about protecting our own health and that of our loved ones. We hope everyone manages to stay safe, healthy and in good spirits during this unprecedented time.

At International Animal Rescue (IAR) we continue to prioritise the welfare of our staff and the animals in our care. We are taking all necessary precautions to keep everyone safe. At our rehabilitation centres around the world we already operate strict bio-security measures to protect the animals and the people caring for them and these protocols have now been increased to the highest level. It is not yet known exactly how vulnerable various primate species are to the virus so, we have to be extra cautious. We have complete confidence in the expertise and dedication of our medical team and keepers to take all necessary precautions.

In spite of major restrictions on movement and travel, IAR’s teams continue to function as normally as they can and to come to the aid of animals in distress. We are 100% committed to maintaining the best possible care for all the animals in our facilities. We have already seen costs increase as some supplies have become scarce. Inevitably, we are concerned about the effect this crisis will have on our ability to raise funds for our lifesaving work. The animals need our help as much as ever. Please don’t forget about the desperate plight of vulnerable wildlife and their threatened habitats and, whenever you can, please spare what you can to help us continue protecting and caring for them.

Our fundraising offices are now closed and all staff are working remotely. We continue to operate as usual, we are still available to answer your phone calls and our incoming mail is being opened as usual. We are able to process donations without any delay.

In dark times like these it helps to focus on good news stories to lift people’s spirits and we will be sharing as many of these as possible on our social media pages in the days and weeks ahead.

Thank you for standing with us at this difficult time.
