KUKUR NEEDS YOUR HELP!

At the end of last year, the IAR Indonesia team - along with the Wildlife Rescue Unit of the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) - worked together to rescue a five-year old orangutan, which was being kept as a pet. Only with your generous donations, will we be able to care for Kukur and make sure that he gets the best treatment and rehabilitation possible.

Please help Kukur today!

Kukur’s ‘owner’ claimed to have found the orangutan whilst farming in the forest and said that he felt sorry for Kukur, so took him home and kept him as a pet. Kukur was incarcerated in a small hut when he wasn’t living together with the family and other domesticated animals, such as dogs and pigs. Kukur was fed a largely human diet, such as instant noodles and coffee, and was kept tied up by a rope around his neck.

After a closer examination, the team found that Kukur also had old wounds on his neck and ankles. Without your help, the team on the ground would not be able to carry out the life-saving rescue missions that give Critically Endangered orangutans like Kukur another chance at the life they deserve; a free life high up in the trees of the Indonesian rainforest!

Please give what you can today for Kukur and the many orangutans like him being kept illegally as pets.
