IAR has been working in India since 1998. We now have veterinary clinics in Goa and Tamil Nadu.
Our clinics sterilise cats and dogs and are registered with the Government of India under their Animal Birth Control (ABC) Scheme which allows us to reclaim some of the cost of sterilising and inoculating dogs. We are also closely involved in the campaign to remove the dancing bears from the streets of India. Tourists visiting India will have seen the sorry sight of bears being made to "dance." They are brutally beaten to make them perform.
We are the sole UK funder of bear sanctuaries in Agra in the north and Bannerghatta in the south of India.
Naturetrek Wildlife Tour There is still time to book your place on the next Naturetrek tour to northern India in February. This unique trip includes a visit to the Bharatpur bird sanctuary and the Ranthambore National Park, home to India’s majestic tigers and other endangered wildlife. IAR donors also get an opportunity to witness how their contributions have helped support the rescue of India’s dancing Bears. Naturetrek will donate 10% of the proceeds of this Wildlife Tour to IAR. > More
