Two rhinos killed in Kaziranga National Park

Authorities in India are hunting an organised gang of poachers who killed two rhinos earlier this week.
The Newstrack India agency reported that the two rhinos were killed on Monday (April 28th) in the Kaziranga National Park in the north-eastern state of Assam.
According to the report, which cited local newspapers, park officials said that one of the rhinos killed by the poachers was a calf.
The unnamed official is reported to have said: "The poachers were able to take away the horns after killing the rhinos."
In the last quarter, a total of six rhinos have been killed by poachers in the national park.
Recently, nepalnews.com reported that three rare one-horned rhinoceros have been killed in the Bardiya National Park in Nepal.
The latest figures suggest that around 2,400 Indian rhinos survive in the wild and the IUCN still lists the animal as endangered.
Around two thirds of the world's surviving Indian rhinos live in Kaziranga National Park.
